On January 21, 2025, a shocking incident unfolded in Nairobi’s Huruma area when police arrested a 29-year-old man, John Kiama Wambua, on suspicion of murdering his wife, Joy Fridah Munani. The arrest occurred around 5:00 am when officers on patrol intercepted Wambua, who was carrying a suspicious bag. Upon searching the bag, they discovered human body parts, which Wambua confessed belonged to his 19-year-old wife.
Following the confession, Wambua led the officers to his house, where more dismembered body parts were found beneath his bed. The crime scene also revealed a blood-stained kitchen knife and female clothes soaked in blood. The floor of the house was stained with blood, indicating the gruesome nature of the crime.
The body parts were moved to the City Mortuary for postmortem analysis, while Wambua was taken into custody at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) offices in Starehe. The motive behind the murder is yet to be established, and investigations are ongoing.
