
Wednesday, January 22, 2025 : Two politicians were among five individuals interrogated in connection with the murder of Molo-based activist Richard Otieno. Otieno, known as the “Molo President,” was brutally murdered on January 18, 2025, outside his home in Elburgon, Nakuru County.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has taken charge of the investigation, with Homicide Director Martin Nyuguto leading the team. The detectives visited the crime scene and assured Otieno’s family and the public that thorough investigations would be conducted to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Otieno’s murder has sparked public outrage, with residents blocking roads and storming the mortuary where his body was initially preserved. The activist had reportedly received threats and was being trailed by unknown individuals before his death.
The two politicians, whose identities have not been disclosed, were questioned by the DCI as part of the ongoing investigation. The Nakuru Human Rights Network has called for expedited investigations to ensure that the culprits are arrested and charged in court.
Otieno’s widow, Margaret Mwihaki, and the family lawyer, Roselinda Wamaitha, have expressed their hope for justice and urged the government to take swift action. The investigation continues as the DCI works to uncover the circumstances surrounding Otieno’s tragic death.
