Mlolongo, Kenya – January 30, 2025 – The body of Justus Mutumwa, one of three men who went missing in Mlolongo, was discovered in Ruai, Nairobi County, and later identified at the City Mortuary by his family. The discovery comes after days of relentless searching and growing public outcry.

Mutumwa, along with Martin Mwau and Karani Muema, disappeared under mysterious circumstances on December 16 and 17, 2024. The men were last seen by friends at a local joint on the evening of December 15, 20243. Their families reported them missing after they failed to return home the next morning.

The case gained significant attention, with Kenyans taking to social media to express their anger and demand answers from the authorities. Despite repeated calls for information, the police denied having custody of the missing men.

On January 30, 2025, Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja and Director of Criminal Investigations Mohammed Amin appeared in court to address the disappearance. However, they maintained that the men were not in police custody. Shortly after their court appearance, Mutumwa’s body was found in Ruai.

Lawyer Dan Maanzo, representing the families, confirmed the identification of Mutumwa’s body and called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death. The family is now awaiting an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

The discovery of Mutumwa’s body has intensified calls for justice, with his family and the public urging authorities to reveal the truth behind his death. The case remains under investigation, and the search for the remaining missing men continues.
