In a distressing incident, 22 families from Masindoni village in Bomet County were admitted to Ndanai Private Hospital after consuming contaminated beef. The unfortunate event unfolded when the families consumed beef from a cow that had been sick and subsequently died. The contaminated meat led to severe food poisoning, causing the affected individuals to seek immediate medical attention.

Assistant Chief Richard Koech reported the incident, highlighting that the beef was from a cow that had been unwell before its death. The consumption of such meat poses significant health risks, as it can harbor harmful bacteria and toxins. The affected families exhibited symptoms of food poisoning, including severe stomach pain, vomiting, and diarrhea.

In response to the incident, Bomet Police Commander Edward Imbwaga issued a stern warning to residents, urging them to avoid consuming uninspected meat. Imbwaga emphasized the importance of ensuring that all meat is inspected by certified officers before consumption to prevent such health hazards. The sale and consumption of uninspected meat not only endanger public health but also violate food safety regulations.
