A family in Naserian Kajiado East is mourning the tragic loss of Samuel Kaetuai Salaash, a Kenyan police officer who died in Haiti on February 23, 2025. Samuel was part of the Multinational Security Support Mission (MSSM) and sustained fatal injuries during an operation in the Ségur-Savien area of the Artibonite department.
Samuel’s father, Lesaru Salaash,has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of his son. He has revealed that Samuel had been working tirelessly to build a new family home before his deployment to Haiti. “He was excited about the house and wanted his family to have a place they could call their own. Now, he is gone, and we don’t know what will happen to his dream,” Lesaru said.
The area sub-chief Noah Leshaitan also shared his condolences, highlighting Samuel’s dedication to his duty and his community. “Samuel was a beacon of hope for his family and a dedicated officer who served his country with honor. His loss is a significant blow to our community,” the sub-chief stated.
Samuel’s wife Naomi Samuel, who is left to care for their two children, recalled their last conversation with a heavy heart. “He has been busy. He did not give us a call. We have been texting, nonetheless,” she said, struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss of her husband.
Samuel’s brother also mourned the loss, emphasizing the void left by his passing. “Samuel was not just a brother but a pillar of strength for our family. His absence is deeply felt, and we are all struggling to cope with this tragedy,” he shared.
The Kenyan government has assured the bereaved family of the necessary support during this difficult time. As the nation mourns the loss of a dedicated officer, Samuel’s unfinished house stands as a poignant reminder of a life cut short in the line of duty.
