Residents of Kiserian in Kajiado North are calling on the Kajiado County Government to initiate a training program for local youths to become divers. This request comes in the wake of a tragic incident where a 21-Year-Old , Emmanuel Mutso drowned in Kiserian Dam, located in Madaraka Village on Sunday 9 March while attempting to retrieve a ball for children playing nearby. As of March 10, 2025, the body of the young man has yet to be recovered, leaving the community in a state of grief and concern.

The incident has highlighted the urgent need for trained divers in the area, as the lack of immediate response capabilities has prolonged the agony for the victim’s family and the community. Residents believe that equipping local youths with diving skills will not only enhance safety but also provide valuable employment opportunities.
The Kajiado County Government has been urged to collaborate with relevant authorities and organizations to establish a comprehensive training program. This initiative would involve practical diving lessons, safety protocols, and emergency response techniques. By empowering the youth with these skills, the community hopes to prevent future tragedies and ensure a swift response in case of similar incidents.
The call for action has gained significant support from various community leaders and organizations, who emphasize the importance of proactive measures to safeguard lives. The residents of Kiserian are hopeful that their plea will be heard and that the necessary steps will be taken to address this critical issue.
