Fallen Kenyan Officer’s Body Returns Home from Haiti

The body of Constable Samuel Tompoi Kaetuai, a Kenyan police officer who was tragically killed in Haiti, arrived in Kenya on Monday, March 10. The Deputy Inspector General of the Administration Police Service, Gilbert Masengeli, led a team of officers in receiving the body at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). The somber event was attended by family members, friends, and senior government officials.

Constable Kaetuai, who hailed from Naserian Village in Kajiado County, was part of the Kenya-led Multinational Security Support Mission (MSS) in Haiti. He was killed on February 23, 2025, during a clash with gang members in the Artibonite region, North of the capital Port-au-Prince. Despite efforts to save his life, he succumbed to gunshot wounds after being airlifted to Aspen Level 2 Hospital.

Following the arrival of his body, it was moved to the Chiromo Mortuary in Nairobi, where it will remain pending burial arrangements. The government has assured the family of its unwavering support during this difficult period and has pledged to cover all burial expenses to ensure a dignified send-off for the fallen hero.

Constable Kaetuai’s death marks a significant loss for the National Police Service and the entire nation. He is remembered as a dedicated officer who served with honor and bravery, working to restore peace and stability in Haiti. His sacrifice will not be forgotten, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who follow in his footsteps.
