Midway through the journey, Mr. Korir realized that they were being followed by three individuals on another motorcycle. One of the pursuers pulled him off the bike he was riding, leaving him vulnerable. In an unexpected twist, the motorbike he had boarded turned back towards Chebole, abandoning him at the scene with the unknown attackers.

The assailants proceeded to attack Mr. Korir using a nut Maasai rungu, a traditional weapon, and robbed him of his belongings. These included two mobile phones—a Tecno Camon 20 and an Infinix Hot 50 I—cash amounting to Ksh 393,000, and an Mpesa transaction of Ksh 4,228, which was transferred to one of the assailant’s accounts after forcing the victim to reveal his pin.

The authorities, led by the Bomet County Police Commander, Edward Imbwaga, have vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice. Police efforts to apprehend the suspects are currently underway. In the wake of this incident, Commander Imbwaga issued a stern warning to residents, urging them to only use motorbikes driven by individuals they know and trust, in order to prevent similar occurrences.
