Popular Kikuyu musician and police officer Samuel Muchoki Ndirangu, widely known as Samidoh, is facing arrest after the National Police Service (NPS) declared him a deserter. The musician, who is attached to the Administration Police’s Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU), failed to report back to duty on May 27, 2025, following the lapse of his official leave.
Samidoh, known for his vibrant Mugithi performances, has been serving as a police officer while maintaining his music career. However, his recent absence from duty for more than ten days without permission has led to disciplinary action. According to police reports, efforts to trace him have been unsuccessful, prompting authorities to declare him a deserter.

Before his disappearance, Samidoh had been transferred from the Central Region Police Headquarters to ASTU in Gilgil. While the reasons for his transfer remain unclear, speculation suggests that it may have been linked to a recent performance where he echoed the opposition rallying call “Wantam”, a phrase associated with political dissent. His involvement in political discourse has drawn both praise and criticism, further fueling discussions about his sudden transfer.
Authorities have instructed officers in Gatumbiro, Nyandarua County, his home village, to arrest him on sight if found. Additionally, the NPS pay section has halted his salary, reinforcing the seriousness of the disciplinary measures against him.
