Man Arrested in Bomet Over Alleged Sexual Exploitation of Minor at Local Lodging

Authorities in Bomet County have arrested a 40-year-old man following a disturbing incident involving a minor at Vision Lodging near Kapkwen market. The arrest was made on Friday, August 22, 2025, after a tip-off from a concerned resident.

According to police reports, Moses Cheruiyot Bii, a resident of Kapkwen, alerted officers after spotting an adult male entering a room at Vision Lodging in the company of a teenage girl. Officers from Kapkwen Police Station responded swiftly and conducted a search of the premises, where they found the suspect, identified as Robert Rotich, allegedly engaging in sexual activity with a 17-year-old student from Alsaik Secondary School.

Both individuals were immediately escorted to the station for processing. The minor was later taken to Longisa Sub-County Referral Hospital for medical examination, while the suspect was placed in custody at Bomet Police Station.

Bomet County Police Commander Edward Imbwaga confirmed the arrest and stated that the suspect will be arraigned before the Bomet Law Courts on Monday, August 25, 2025. Investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
