On January 1, 2026, more than one thousand families in Kibiko, Kajiado West, received food relief from the Kajiado County government. The initiative was organized to ease the burden of food insecurity that has been affecting households in the area, particularly after violent incidents that disrupted livelihoods and left many residents vulnerable.
The distribution exercise was overseen by Iloodokilani Ward MCA Joshua Saitoti Saigilu, who emphasized the importance of standing with the community during difficult times. Speaking at the event, Saigilu said: “This food aid is not just about filling empty plates; it is about restoring dignity and hope to families who have endured hardship. We will continue to advocate for long‑term solutions that empower our people to be self‑reliant.”

Residents welcomed the support with gratitude, noting that the relief had come at a critical moment. Many families expressed that while emergency food assistance was vital, they also hoped for sustainable interventions such as job creation, agricultural investment, and community development projects to secure their future.
County officials echoed these sentiments, stressing that the food distribution was part of broader efforts to strengthen food security across Kajiado. They highlighted plans to expand development programs aimed at reducing dependency on aid and building resilience against future shocks.
