DCI Arrest Suspected Armed Gang Members, Recover AK-47 in Uasin Gishu

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has intensified its war against organized crime, with a recent operation in Uasin Gishu County leading to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle and the arrest of three suspected gang members. This development marks a significant milestone in efforts to dismantle violent criminal networks that have been terrorizing residents in the Rift Valley region.

The suspects, identified as Titus Wainaina Njoroge, Jeremiah Njuguna Kinyanjui (alias Chikudee), and Patrick Kinuthia Mwangi, were apprehended following a coordinated intelligence-led operation involving detectives from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB), the DCI Operations Unit, and local officers in Uasin Gishu. According to investigators, the trio has been linked to a series of violent robberies, kidnappings, and extortion schemes that have left communities living in fear.

During the raid, detectives recovered an AK-47 rifle loaded with ten rounds of ammunition, concealed in a thicket within one suspect’s homestead. Forensic experts are now analyzing the weapon to establish its connection to recent crimes, including the January 7, 2026 robbery with violence that claimed the life of a pharmacist at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.

The gang is also accused of holding a family hostage, stealing their vehicle, and forcing them to transfer money through mobile platforms. Such incidents have underscored the growing threat of organized criminal groups in Uasin Gishu, prompting residents to call for stronger security measures.
