Clinical Officer Detained Over Alleged Rape of Expectant Mother in Bomet County

Authorities in Bomet County have arrested a clinical officer accused of sexually assaulting a pregnant woman during a routine maternity check-up at Chemaner Health Center.

According to Bomet East Sub-County Police Commander Michael Singa, the suspect—identified as Eric Langat, also known as Kirinyet—allegedly attacked the woman while attending to her in one of the consultation rooms.

Witnesses reported hearing the victim scream for help, prompting staff and patients to rush to the scene. They reportedly found the officer in a compromising situation. The suspect fled when onlookers gathered, but police later tracked him down and arrested him at his hideout.

The victim was taken to Longisa County Referral Hospital for medical examination, while the suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.
