Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has recently made headlines with his pledge to announce the name of his new political party. Speaking at a church service in Laikipia County, Gachagua indicated that he would reveal the party’s name in a live television interview within two weeks. This announcement comes amid growing tensions and political maneuvering in the Mt. Kenya region.

Gachagua’s move to form a new party is seen as a strategic effort to mobilize leaders and supporters who feel marginalized by the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA). He has hinted at forming alliances with other prominent leaders, including Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, to create a formidable force capable of challenging President William Ruto in the 2027 elections.

The former Deputy President’s decision has sparked significant interest and speculation among political observers and the public. Some leaders have suggested that the new party might adopt the blue color, reminiscent of former President Mwai Kibaki’s Party of National Unity (PNU), while others believe Gachagua might launch an entirely new political entity.

Gachagua’s pledge to name his new party is not just a political maneuver but also a statement of intent. He aims to position himself as a key player in the Mt. Kenya region and beyond, rallying support from like-minded individuals and groups. As the political landscape continues to evolve, Gachagua’s next move will be closely watched by both his supporters and opponents.
