A tragic incident occurred at Ranen market in Migori County on Monday January 20, where a butchery attendant fatally stabbed his colleague during a dispute over missing meat. According to area chief Phares Osore, the altercation began when the two colleagues, Geoffrey Ouma and Ochieng Odhiambo, accused each other of reporting the loss of meat to their employer.
The employer had been considering dismissing both employees due to the recurring meat losses, which escalated tensions between the two. The argument turned violent, resulting in Odhiambo stabbing Ouma, who succumbed to his injuries.
Following the incident, Odhiambo surrendered to the police at Ranen post, while Ouma’s body was taken to Rapcom Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination. Chief Osore urged the youth to seek peaceful conflict resolution methods to avoid such tragic outcomes.
