On February 14, 2025, a coordinated security operation led by the National Police Service (NPS) in Elementaita, Nakuru County, resulted in the arrest of eight individuals and the recovery of 497 kilograms of suspected cannabis. Acting on a tip-off from local residents, officers conducted a raid at a homestead in the area, uncovering 21 sacks filled with the illicit substance.

The suspects are currently in police custody and are expected to be arraigned in court as investigations continue. This operation is part of an ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking across the country. Just days earlier, on February 12, 2025, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested two individuals in Kombani, Kwale County, in a similar operation.
The NPS has emphasized its commitment to combating narcotics trafficking and ensuring the safety and security of communities. The recent successes in these operations highlight the effectiveness of coordinated efforts between law enforcement agencies and the public in tackling drug-related crimes.
