Teenager Tragically Mangled by Crocodile in Chepkulo River

A 16-year-old student lost his life after being attacked by a crocodile while bathing in the Chepkulo River, located in Tuiyobei village, Nogirwet sub-location, Bomet County on Sunday March 16. The victim, identified as Kelvin Kipkemoi Ngetich, was a Form Three student at Nogirwet Secondary School.

The tragedy was reported by the area chief, Tulmat, at the Chebunyo Police Station. Responding swiftly, officers arrived at the scene and discovered the lifeless body of the teenager lying by the riverbank. The body bore visible injuries, consistent with a crocodile attack.

The remains of the young student were transported to Longisa Referral Hospital morgue, where they are being preserved pending an autopsy. The incident has left the local community in shock and mourning.

Bomet County Police Commander Edward Imbwaga confirmed the incident and issued a stern warning to residents, urging them to exercise caution near water bodies to prevent similar tragedies. The commander emphasized the importance of vigilance, especially in areas known to be inhabited by crocodiles.

This tragic event serves as a somber reminder of the dangers posed by wildlife in certain regions and the need for heightened awareness and preventive measures.
