Elephant Attack Leaves Family Homeless and Two Children Injured

In a heartwarming act of community support, the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust (MWCT) has pledged to construct a new home for the family of Joshua Melau, residents of Emasusu village in Kajiado South. This gesture comes in the wake of a harrowing incident on Sunday night when an elephant destroyed their home while the family was asleep. Fortunately, the family managed to escape the ordeal, though two children sustained injuries and were promptly taken to Elangata Enkima hospital for treatment.

The incident has sparked concern among the villagers, who are now urging the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) to implement measures to safeguard them from such dangers. Human-wildlife conflict remains a pressing issue in the region, and the community is calling for proactive steps to ensure their safety while maintaining the delicate balance of coexistence with wildlife.

The Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust, known for its dedication to preserving ecosystems and supporting local communities, has once again demonstrated its commitment to the well-being of the Maasai people. By stepping in to assist the Melau family during this challenging time, the Trust not only provides immediate relief but also reinforces the importance of community-driven conservation efforts.
