Ilbissil Residents Give Ultimatum for OCS and Entire Police Team Removal

Residents of Ilbissil in Matapato North Subcounty, Kajiado County, are calling for the immediate transfer of all police officers stationed at Ilbissil Police Station, starting with Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Ibrahim Hassan. The demand was formally presented to the Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) following growing concerns over insecurity and alleged corruption within the local police force.

The tension escalated just days after a 27-year-old man was fatally stabbed during a confrontation involving two women, reportedly in a same-sex relationship. The incident has sparked outrage among locals, who argue that lax enforcement of the law and unchecked corruption have contributed to rising crime in the area.

Community members claim that bars in Ilbissil operate until late hours without regulation, fueling violence and disorder. They accuse the police of turning a blind eye to these establishments, allegedly due to corrupt practices. In response, residents have vowed to stage demonstrations if the OCS is not removed by Monday, February 9, 2026.
