A livestock farmer in Oloyiankalani, Ildamat Ward, Kajiado Central, is facing heavy losses after a leopard raided his flock overnight, killing 25 sheep.
The farmer estimates the damage at more than KSh 375,000, saying the animals were his family’s main source of livelihood. He explained that the flock had been helping him pay school fees for his children in secondary schools and universities.

Appealing for urgent government support, he asked the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) to compensate him promptly, stressing that the loss has left his household in a precarious situation.
Local chief Harrison Ole Mpaayo confirmed the incident and urged KWS to take responsibility by compensating the farmer. He emphasized that such interventions are vital not only for sustaining affected families but also for easing the growing tension between communities and wildlife in the region.
KWS officers visited the scene to assess the damage and assured the farmer that his claim would be processed. They pledged to handle the matter with seriousness and ensure he receives compensation.
