Detectives from Bomet Central, under the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), successfully apprehended a suspect in connection with a murder case that has shaken the local community. Acting on intelligence, the officers proceeded to Saelo village within Kapseger sublocation, Kipkelion East sub-county, Kericho County, where they arrested Wesley Cheruiyot Koech, a 34-year-old male suspect.

The arrest is linked to the tragic murder of Rachealine Rutto, a 45-year-old resident of Ririk village in Bomet county, who was found dead in her house on March 25, 2025. Upon interrogation, the suspect led the officers to his residence in Saelo village, where a thorough search uncovered several incriminating items. Among the recovered items were a blood-stained USA saber baton sword, a wedding ring, a mobile phone (Itel 18) containing a photograph believed to depict the deceased’s body, a piece of blood-stained garment, two pairs of blue jeans, two jackets and a t-shirt.
The suspect, along with the recovered evidence, was escorted to Bomet Police Station for processing and further investigation. Edward Imbwaga, the Bomet County Police Commander, confirmed the incident and assured the public that justice would be pursued diligently.
