Body of Elderly Woman Found in Locked House in Narok County

Authorities in Narok County are investigating a disturbing incident after the decomposed and partially burnt body of a 75-year-old woman was discovered inside her locked home on July 27. The woman, identified as Joyce Nyanchama, had reportedly been missing since July 24, prompting concern among neighbors.

According to police reports, neighbors noticed a foul smell emanating from the house and decided to check on the elderly woman. Although the windows were open, the door was locked from the inside. Upon peering through the window, they spotted a burnt bedspread and what appeared to be human remains—specifically an ankle—partially covered by charred bedding.

When officers arrived at the scene, they confirmed that only the head, one ankle, and a forearm remained intact. Strangely, the rest of the room was untouched by fire, raising suspicions that the blaze may have been deliberately set to conceal a crime.

Detectives have launched a murder investigation, suspecting that Nyanchama may have been killed before her body was set alight. The remains were transferred to Narok County Referral Hospital Morgue for autopsy, as authorities work to determine the exact cause of death and identify any potential suspects.

The incident has left residents of the area shaken, especially given the quiet and solitary life the elderly woman was known to lead. Many are calling for increased vigilance and support for vulnerable members of the community, particularly the elderly who live alone.

As investigations continue, police are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in solving this tragic case.
